L-Phenylalanine, N-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester - Introduction
Z-PHE-OTBU(Z-PHE-OTBU) is an organic compound, often used as a protecting group in chemical synthesis. It is a white crystalline solid with the formula C26H31NO4 and a molecular weight of 421.53g/mol.
The main use of Z-PHE-OTBU is to protect the carboxyl group of amino acids in organic synthesis. It can react with the carboxyl group of the amino acid to form an esterified product, thereby protecting the carboxyl group of the amino acid from interference by other reactions. When it is desired to restore the original properties of the amino acid, the protecting group can be removed by acid-catalyzed or hydrogenative reduction.
Z-PHE-OTBU are generally prepared by reacting phenylalanine with T-butanol and an isocyanate (Cbz-OSu) to form an esterified product. The reaction is generally carried out at room temperature and generally requires a longer reaction time to ensure a high yield.
From a safety point of view, the use of Z-PHE-OTBU needs to follow the safety guidelines of common chemical reagents. It may have irritating effects on the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Personal protective equipment such as chemical gloves, protective goggles and protective masks should be used in contact or use. Waste also needs to be stored and disposed of properly, avoiding contact with oxidants, strong acids and strong bases. During use, it is recommended to operate in a well-ventilated laboratory environment.
